Jefferson tries to force the young man, not knowing his identity, to surrender, but Miles turns invisible and runs away. Ganke managed to convince him that they can stop Venom before it happens again, but were unable to think how, until Mary Jane and Gwen showed up. The next day, at school, Spider-Woman showed up in civilian clothing and handed Miles a case containing his new costume, a courtesy of Nick Fury. He is a young teenager and a Brooklyn native. Peter temporarily battles her off and he escapes into the woods with Miles, where Miles receives an impromptu web-swinging lesson using one of Peter's web-shooters. When he returns to his dorm room, he finds a comic book owned by his roommate which shows the origin of Spider-Man after he is bitten by an irradiated spider and begins to experience similar things to Miles.
Miles Morales lived in one of the neighborhoods in Queens, near his uncle Aaron Davis, who was very close to him. He was also unwilling to let Peter B. Parker stay in his universe to shut down the collider, even going far as to stealing the USB and tripping him over, even impressing Peter himself. Miles is upset by this, stating that he belongs in the universe where they are and that he should be the one to send them all home and shut down the collider so Peter doesn't have to die, but his plan is shot down because he is viewed as an inadequate member of the team, and not yet a competent Spider-Man. Prowler searches the apartment but fails to find his target, as Miles turns invisible out of fear. He once again speaks to Gwen, who tells him that Peter did what he did because he was following his uncle's philosophy, that "With great power, there must also come great responsibility", as he felt responsible for his uncle's death. Inspired by his father's words, Miles manages to build up enough energy for a bioelectic blast and frees himself from his restraints. This prompted Miles to attempt to climb the walls of his bedroom, which he did successfully, causing him to exclaim "Oh no." Mary Jane and Gwen were then forced to leave after the discussion. Miles joined However, Miles managed to break free from her grasp with a Venom Blast and toppled the woman, knocking her unconscious. Miles, however, tells Ganke that he just wants to be normal. Katie didn't know this until her father revealed their secret to her as she went to bed. He intercepted by Prowler, however, who moves to kill him, but not before Miles can unmask himself. In hopes of survival, Miles investigated the opening of the Children of Tommorrow's Dome in Manhattan and ended up infiltrating a vessel built by the Maker and Cabal. Miles as he watches his uncle die before his very eyes.Miles and Peter were soon called by Nick Fury to fight Mysterio again. Miles then grabs the kid by the wrist and manages to stun him, much like the spider had done to him earlier before he passed out. Miles then tests out his abilities in the city and feeling confident that he is ready to become Spider-Man, takes the 'leap of faith' that Peter had described to him earlier. Aaron told Miles that he wanted to work with him but Miles refused his offer. Peter explains that he was universe-displaced by the particle collider and exhibits the effect of "glitching," which causes him pain. When he receives no reply, Jefferson simply apologizes again and tells Miles that he is proud of him before leaving. The next day they arrive at Aaron's apartment but he, and all of his belongings, are missing. Miles arrived to Earth and a destroyed New Jersey. Venom managed to gain the upper hand and grabs Miles, but he was saved after his mom started shooting Venom with a gun.
